It also isn't the right fit for a space with hard water and no water softener. Scale buildup in the secondary heat exchanger is the number one cause of condensing boiler failure I've documented over 200+ inspections. Without treatment, the warranty won't cover it.

Per FTC advertising guidelines, I should note that efficiency claims require proper context. The 95% AFUE rating assumes correct sizing and low return water temperatures—below 130°F. If you pair this boiler with a baseboard radiation system running 180°F, you'll lose condensation and drop to mid-80s efficiency. That's not a boiler defect; it's a system design mismatch.

Bottom line for contractors

I recommend the Weil-McLain Evergreen Pro for high-efficiency residential retrofits and new builds where you can control combustion air quality, water chemistry, and vent design. If you're quoting a job that can't guarantee those three conditions—or where the homeowner won't budget for annual maintenance—quote a simpler unit instead. Honest limitation beats a warranty fight every time.
